The short version
We collect the minimum we need to quote and carry out heating and plumbing work. We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising trackers, and we don't share your details with anyone you wouldn't expect.

For the purpose of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the data controller for the information we collect through this site and through our work.
What we collect, and why
When you ask for a quote
Through the quote wizard we collect: your name, email, phone number, postcode and a description of the job. We use this to come back to you with a quote.
When you book work
If you go ahead with a job, we also keep notes against your record — site address, parts fitted, certificates issued, invoices and payments. We need this to do the work, issue gas safety certificates where applicable, and meet HMRC record-keeping obligations.
When you submit a review
Through the review wizard we collect: first name, surname initial, area, postcode prefix, your review text, and optionally your email. If you tick the consent box, we publish the first name, initial, area and postcode prefix alongside your review. We don't publish your email.
When you browse the site
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for a short period for security and traffic-shaping. See our cookies policy for what we and our CDN providers store in your browser.
Our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Legitimate interests — responding to your quote enquiry.
- Contract — carrying out work you've booked, issuing invoices and certificates.
- Legal obligation — keeping financial records (6 years, per HMRC) and gas safety records.
- Consent — publishing the parts of your review you've allowed us to publish.
Who else sees your information
Nobody, except where we have to:
- Our accountant, for financial records only.
- HMRC and Gas Safe Register, where the law or our trade registration requires it.
- Our hosting and email providers, who handle the data on our behalf under contract.
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with marketers. We don't ship it overseas beyond standard hosting arrangements with reputable UK or EU/EEA providers.
How long we keep it
- Quote enquiries that don't turn into work — up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customer records, invoices and certificates — 6 years from end of the relevant tax year, per HMRC.
- Published reviews — until you ask us to remove them.
- Server logs — rotated within 30 days unless flagged for a security incident.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- Confirm what we hold about you and provide a copy.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete data we no longer have a lawful basis to keep.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for anything you previously consented to (e.g. publishing your review).
Email info@quickfixheatingandplumbing.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. There's no charge for reasonable requests.
Security
Paper records (job sheets, certificates) are kept in a locked file. Digital records sit on password-protected services with two-factor authentication where the provider supports it. We don't email your card details, and we don't ask for passwords.
Children
The site is aimed at homeowners and landlords. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you think we have, get in touch and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. For minor wording fixes we'll just update the page.
