About these terms
These terms cover work carried out by QuickFix Heating & Plumbing for domestic customers and small landlords in Greater Manchester. By accepting a written quote from us, you agree to these terms. Where the written quote and these terms conflict, the quote wins.
Who we are
QuickFix Heating & Plumbing is a heating and plumbing business serving Greater Manchester. You can reach us at info@quickfixheatingandplumbing.co.uk. We are Gas Safe registered for gas work and OFTEC registered for oil-fired work; current registration numbers are on each engineer's ID and on the certificates we issue.
Quotes
Quotes are free and come with no obligation. A written quote is valid for 30 days from the date issued unless the quote itself says otherwise.
Quotes are based on the information you give us and, where possible, a site visit. If we discover something during the work that wasn't reasonably foreseeable — hidden corrosion, pipework not where it was meant to be, asbestos — we'll stop, explain, and agree any change in scope and price with you before continuing.
Booking and access
Once you've accepted a quote, we'll agree a date for the work. Please make sure:
- Someone aged 18 or over is on site when we arrive and when we leave.
- We have safe, clear access to the relevant areas (boiler cupboard, loft, meter, stopcock).
- Pets and anything fragile are out of the working area.
If we can't safely complete the work because access wasn't possible, we may charge a call-out fee. We'll always try to reach you before that happens.
Pricing and payment
How we price
- Fixed-price work — the quote price covers labour, materials and certificates as listed. We don't add to it after the fact unless scope changes (see Quotes).
- Hourly / call-out work — our hourly rate is stated upfront and counted from arrival on site. Materials are charged at cost plus a small handling margin, with receipts available on request.
- Out-of-hours and emergency call-outs — charged at our published emergency rate, which we'll state before we set off.
How you pay
Payment is due on completion of the work, by bank transfer or card. We'll send a VAT-compliant invoice by email. For larger jobs (typically >£1,500) we may ask for a materials deposit; this is set out in the quote and is non-refundable once parts are ordered.
Late payment
Invoices not paid within 14 days may incur interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where applicable.
Cancellations and reschedules
You can cancel or reschedule a booking with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge. With less notice we may charge a call-out fee to cover the time we set aside.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days to cancel an off-premises contract (one we agreed away from our usual place of business, e.g. at your home) without giving a reason. If you specifically asked us to start work within that 14-day period and we did, you may owe us a reasonable amount for what's already been done.
Warranty
- Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion against defects caused by our work.
- Parts and appliances carry whatever manufacturer warranty came with them — commonly 2 to 10 years for boilers. We'll register the warranty on your behalf where possible.
To make a warranty claim, contact us first so we have a chance to put it right. The warranty doesn't cover wear and tear, misuse, third-party tampering, frost damage to systems left without heating, or limescale damage in hard-water areas where a treatment device wasn't fitted.
Gas Safe and certificates
Gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers. Where the law requires a certificate (Gas Safety record / Landlord CP12, Building Regulations notification for boiler swaps, etc.), we'll issue it and lodge it with the relevant body. Originals are emailed to you and a copy kept on file for the legally required period.
Our liability
We carry public liability insurance up to £2,000,000. We are liable for direct loss caused by our negligence up to the value of the work we did. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (loss of earnings, decorative damage that would have been disturbed regardless, etc.) except where the law requires.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't lawfully be excluded.
Complaints
If something isn't right, tell us first by emailing info@quickfixheatingandplumbing.co.uk. We'll acknowledge within two working days and aim to resolve within ten.
If we can't sort it between us, you can escalate to:
- Gas Safe Register for concerns about gas work safety — gassaferegister.co.uk
- OFTEC for concerns about oil-fired work — oftec.org
- Citizens Advice consumer service — citizensadvice.org.uk

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still apply. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
